Well, it’s great to have football back, isn’t it?

So what did you watch this weekend?

Were you watching NASCAR under the lights? Did you catch as much college football as humanly possible? Did you watch Vijay rolling them in from way downtown? Are you still following the pennant races?

I’d like to make it a monday morning tradition to open up the comments and reflect on the weekend in sports that was.

oh wait…today’s not Monday? Sure feels like one.

Go ahead, don’t be shy. Comment away.

    A few of my thoughts…

    1. The Rays are going to win the AL East. I wouldn’t concede this all year, but now it’s September and they are still getting it done. The Red Sox are going to have to battle it out with the Twins/White Sox for that Wild Card.

    2. That was an error, not a hit, that Sabathia gave up in the 5th inning of his ‘1-hitter’.

    3. I really enjoyed UCLA’s win last night over the Vols. When it comes to college football, I don’t have a horse in the race, so I just root for upsets and great games. There’s really nothing like fighting sleep on teh couch trying to stay awake for the end of a great football game.

I went to Tech’s opening scrimmage against Jacksonville State and to the Clemson-Alabama game at the Georgia Dome. That’s a pretty full weekend of football.

I’m a Wisconsinite, so I watched Bucky and PJ Hill steamroll the mighty Zips from Akron and I also watched 3 Brew Crew games including Sabathia’s 1 hit no hitter. The Cubs have to be looking back now, it’s only fair after we giftwrapped the division for them last year.

I was unaware that the PGA was still running events since Tiger went on the DL…

Why doesn’t the NCAA create a pre-season of two games and then we could be done with the “cupcakes” of the first few weeks and then the Big Ten (11) could actually play everyone in the conference for a change.

I watched Mississippi State lose to LaTech [still trying not to think about it ... please hold while I puke] and BAMA beat up on Clemsuck.

Other than that, I watched Gustav v. Louisiana. Louisiana had the home advantage and the crowd, and it looks like it won in a squeaker.

after ucla’s third string qb threw four first half interceptions, norm chow was overheard on the way to the locker room saying, “he’s still the best qb i’ve coached in three years.”

    sorry vince.

go bruins!!! what a win. what a game. my next child will be named neuheisel.

Can we take that image away, please? It’s undoing everything we accomplished during my round of electroshock therapy from Tuesday morning.

I’m sorry Peter. I take it your a Vols fan? Did you stay up for the whole game?

Yeah, I am, and yeah, I did. Thing is, after a game in which our kicker missed 51 and 56 yard field goals (totally reasonable), I didn’t really have it in my heart to hate him for missing that one in overtime. Plus, he’s a good kicker, as witnessed by the 47 yarder with 0:05 left that would’ve gone another ten if necessary.
