The Tri Kicked My Athlon

If you're new here, and you're into sports, christianity, and/or things that are funnier than Dane Cook, subscribe to our RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

I finished the triathlon last week, but it was a disappointing race for me on several levels. A couple of those levels involved vomiting and dead fish.

That’s right.

I won’t tell the whole sordid tale here (you can read it in-depth here). But I will post the inevitably embarrassing Half-Naked Jim Palmer (TM) photo of me in a swim cap and a tiny swimsuit, just because isn’t that what we do here?

(If you look closely, you’ll notice I appear to have one ear (my left one) tucked into the cap and the other ear flopping out of the cap. Not sure why. Perhaps it was an attempt to look cool in a swim cap. If so, it was seriously misguided.)

    Jason, I read your tale with a cringe the whole way through. Congrats on finishing in spite of the obstacles. I bet Jimmy P is proud of ya!

    (And the day that my half-naked spandex picture goes up on this site is the day the FCC shuts us down.)

    jason, great job! i’ve got one this coming sunday. was it your first one? if so, feel good about the accomplishment of finishing regardless of how you got there. i bet if you did the same triathlon tomorrow, it would feel so much easier. it’s the unknown that’s half the battle. once you do 2 or 3 of them, the mental stuff will be largely over, and it will mostly come down to issues of physical race readiness.

    the triathlon site (http://triathlons.thefuntimesguide.com/) i do is often geared for the relative newcomer. if you decide to keep doing them, i hope the information on the site helps.

    way to go!!

    @Jim:

    It was actually my second one (my first was a flat, easy, get-your-feet-wet sprint in July). Most of my training was in preparation for this one, though. So I was proud to have finished, but hoped to do better…thanks for the congrats. Best of luck on Sunday!

    BTW: I’ve been reading your funtimesguide site, and enjoying it. Good work.
