As of today I have officially jumped on the twitter bandwagon. If you’re a member of the twitter mafia and would like to add me to the list of blokes you follow, proceed at your own risk.

You might not think you’re newsworthy enough to land a spot on the roster of folks who have taken the PFB Sports Survey. To that I say, “Pshaw!”.
There’s a bunch of loyal readers out there that deserve a chance to answer the 12 questions, so I’ve concocted a brilliant scheme to give you the opportunity to do so.
Over on the right hand side of the blog, you’ll see a heading called “Top Commentators”. This lists out the most frequent commenters on the site, along with how many comments they’ve posted in the past year. Anyone who (legitimately) hits 50, will earn the right to take the survey and get their answers posted on the site. When I say “legitimately”, I don’t mean that you need to have something important to say. I just won’t accept jibberish comments to boost ones numbers or anything like that.
Closest to the mark right now is Buddy Watts, with danny and aaron not too far behind. These guys could be seeing their name in lights before the NBA Finals end sometime in September.
So there you have it. The next time you have the urge to post a comment, go for it. The more you share your opinion, the more we’ll get to know you. And the next thing you know, you’ll have something in your email inbox that will make your day.
It will be like finding Wonka’s golden ticket, only you won’t have to endure the disturbing site of 4 octogenarians sharing the same bed.

If you’re on Facebook, and we know you are, then come join the Prayers For Blowouts Facebook Group.
Not on Facebook yet? Well, now’s as good a time as any to join. We’ll be doing our NCAA Tournament Bracket Contest on Facebook (Here’s our specific group), so if you want to participate, you’ve got to add your face to the book.

Sorry about the downtime over the past 24 hours. Apparently the server had some minor outpatient surgery taken care of, but we’re back online for good.
Speaking of good, we still need 3-5 folks to complete our PFB Fantasy Baseball League. If you’re on the fence about playing fantasy baseball, give it a shot. It should be a lot of fun. send me an email at prayersforblowouts(at)gmail.com
Finally, as a gift to you for your patience while we were down, here’s a list of 10 signs that you might be taking your love of sports a bit too far. (If I happened to be writing a book right now, this would probably be in it.)
——————————
1. Have you ever referred to ESPN as religious programming?
2. Have you named your dog, your kids, or your wife after a player on your favorite team?
3. Has your pastor instituted a “No Sports Prayers” policy during altar calls because of you?
4. Have you ever used the “notes” section of your bulletin to write out mock starting lineups?
5. Have you been archiving those mock starting lineups in a locked, fireproof cabinet for the last ten years?
6. Have you gone through stretches where morning devotions are replaced with daily readings and memorizations from the team’s media guide?
7. Have you painted your hated rival’s logo on the bottom of your toilet bowl to improve the overall bathroom experience?
8. Do you have trouble getting into the spirit of the worship music at church without your foam finger?
9. Have you ever worn a long-sleeve shirt to church to cover up body paint?
10. Do you bring your own communion glass to church, complete with a team logo etched onto the side?
If you said “yes” to any of these, you might want to reevaluate things. You’re this close to ending up on the bottom of one of those crazy soccer riots.
Have a great weekend everyone!

Though this isn’t the typical fare here at PFB, I had to make mention of the amazing day I had on Saturday while spending the weekend with my folks in Massachusetts. My brother Josh, who manages at The Paradise, got us guest-listed at Theo Epstein’s Fundraising Sports Roundtable, which was being held at Fenway Park. The event itself was amazing, as I got to hear from Epstein, Brian Cashman, Bill James, Scott Boras, and Peter Gammons on the state of Boston sports and baseball.
There were a few highlights for me. First off, I got to shake hands with Peter Gammons, which was an honor. Secondly, I got to meet Theo Epstein, a personal hero of mine, and thank him for doing his job so well. That was fun.
I also donated $25 to Theo’s “Foundation to be Named Later” in order to be able to pose for this picture, which I was more than happy to do.

Yeah, I’m still smiling.

hi. my name is prayers for blowouts.
I am officially the 2,349,627th sports blog on the wide world of webs.
But i think I’m the first to focus on the collision of sports and faith. and if it’s not, that’s ok too.
I’ve got an about page up right now and that’s about it. i’ll be tweaking things in the coming weeks and at some point i’ll make some sort of official launch.
there should be lots to talk about this month as kurt warner has returned to the role of starting NFL QB, Jon Kitna has reportedly converted 37.7% of the Detroit Lions roster, and Todd Helton might be headed for the World Series. Stay tuned…
