Perry Noble and the BCS 7

Posted on November 06, 2008 by bryan

Over at his blog, pastor of New Life Church Perry Noble discusses seven questions posed to him regarding the election. Perry’s answers are great (seriously, I think he nails it), especially #7:

#7 – What would be the first law that you passed if you were elected president?

I would do away with the BCS system and make them have a college football playoff! That would establish a legacy that would NEVER die!!!

The cry for a college football playoff has started up earlier than normal this year. It was Pete Carroll a few days ago. Then it was President-Elect Obama in an interview with Chris Berman. Even Sporting News Blogger Dan Shanoff got in the mix with a proposal that the SEC and Big 12 should secede from the BCS and create their own playoff in hopes that the other conferences would follow suit.

I’m not the most passionate College Football fan alive, but I do like to follow the sport. Seems to me that the current system makes things a bit more interesting during the season than an 8 or 16 team playoff would. Even so, I’d sacrifice that in heartbeat to see a playoff where the championship is won on the field by a team winning it’s last 3 or 4 games against the best competition in the land.

What about you? Think a playoff system is a must, or are you okay if we never get one?
